ALU-GRAIN-REFINERS

ALUMINIUM GRAIN REFINERS

Aluminium – 5% Titanium – Boron ( Tibal)
The controlled addition of Ti B Al Grain Refiners to molten aluminium releases nuclear particles that promote equiaxed, fine grain structures throught the cast alloy, thus avoiding formation of Columnar crystals. Casting speed can also be increased.
Shape: Cut Rods, Piglets, Tablets.

• These Grain refiners are used to refine /reduce grain size and distribution. This results in improved Mechanical Properties and reduces porosity.
• Ensures homogeneity of Alloying elements.

ALUMINIUM MODIFIERS:

Aluminium -Strontium is available in tablet & rod form and elements percentage of Al- 5% Sr & 10% Sr.

The purpose of Modifying eutectic and hypo-eutectic Al- Si alloys is to change the Silicon phase from accicular to Spheroidal or globular form. The ” Modified” structure results improved mechanical properties in both as cast and heat treated condition. Strontium is Permanent Modifier.

Benefits of modified structure include :

    • Improved mechanical properties.
    • The recovery of Strontium from a master alloy is both higher and more reproducible.
    • Improved surface finish.
    • Reduced Tendency for hot tearing.
    • Improving efficiency of heat treatment.

Altek Metalcasters TIBAL Coil is designed for the Continuous Grain refinement for addition into metal transfer launder in continuous or semi continuous grain refining within 1-2 minutes addition. This coil is Commonly used in Aluminium Cast houses and Aluminium Extrusion industry.
